Kindergarten----second GRade
Students are working on basic rope jumping skills by using locomotor skills to travel around and over the ropes in order to learn the proper way to hop/jump/leap over the ropes. Students at this age will also be learning basic turning skills in order to efficiently and safely use a jump rope.
The elements that satisfy standards of the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum: Skillfulness, Biomechanical Principles, Exercise Physiology, and Physical Activity.
The elements that satisfy standards of the National Association for Sport and Physical Education:
-Demonstrates competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities.
-Demonstrates understanding of movement concepts, principles, strategies, and tactics as they apply to the learning and performance of physical activities.
-Participates regularly in physical activity.
-Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings.
-Values physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression, and/or social interaction.
